Maria Soltero-Rivera, DVM, DAVDC, Medical Director
Dr. Maria Soltero-Rivera received her DVM from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY in 2008. After that, she returned to her native Puerto Rico for a year-long small animal surgical internship at Veterinary Specialty Hospital in San Juan, followed by a small animal rotating internship at Long Island Veterinary Specialists in Plainview, NY. Dr. Soltero-Rivera became board certified in veterinary dentist and oral surgery in 2014 after completing her residency at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine where she continued to lecture for the following 2 years. Dr. Soltero-Rivera then moved to the Bay Area and she currently practices at VCA San Francisco Veterinary Specialists while still serving as adjunct assistant professor at PennVet. Her clinical interests include diagnosis and treatment of oral tumors, management of oral and maxillofacial trauma, and feline oral inflammatory conditions. When she’s not working she can be found playing at the beach with her 3 year old, Aurora, her husband, Bernardo, and their 2 Chihuahuas, Olivia and Pickles. She also loves cooking, reading and running.
